Ardupilot and failsafe co-procesor use

Ardupilot is using the failsaafe redundancy co-procersor?

It is rather should be called IO processor than failsafe. It handles RC input and controls PWM outputs 1-8.
Failsafe idea is that if you have an Plane, when a main processor fails you still can take over and fly manually by controlling servos directly with your RC.
In case of Copter it is not relevant, since you cannot fly a copter only with an RC.
