ArduDeck Beta 1.1 released: map-first cockpit, swarm surveys, panorama capture, a HUD on your radio

Hi all, Beta 1.1 (v0.1.1) is out for Mac, Windows, and Linux. Beta 1 was about flying several aircraft at once; this one rebuilds the place you fly them from, and then gives them actual work to do.

The map is the cockpit now. The telemetry screen reorganized around the map: it is the main panel, with instruments docked directly on it, draggable, resizable, legible over satellite imagery, plus an instrument catalog with live previews and split-screen layouts (map beside camera, controls beside mission).

Split one survey across the fleet.

Plan a coverage job with a fleet connected and a “Distribute to fleet” button appears: one click splits the plan into one mission per vehicle, balanced by flight path length, each complete with its own takeoff, DO_CHANGE_SPEED, CAM_TRIGG_DIST, and RTL, colored by vehicle on the map. “Take off all” then “Start missions” gets the whole fleet flying its sections in parallel. Related: the GCS MAVLink system ID is now configurable in settings, so multiple ground stations can share a link without wrecking each other’s parameter and mission transfers.

Panorama capture.

For subjects that are lines rather than areas (shorelines, dam faces, building rows): draw the subject as a spline with proper tangent-handle editing, and ArduDeck computes the standoff flight path, camera headings, photo spacing from your camera and overlap, and CONDITION_YAW commands rate-spread across each leg so the camera pans smoothly instead of stepping at every waypoint. Works best with WP_YAW_BEHAVIOR=0, and the app tells you so.

Flight Preview.

Play any mission or WP group on the map before upload: a gizmo flies the plan with a live camera cone modeling the mission’s actual yaw and ROI commands, on a scrubbable timeline. If the pan looks smooth in preview, it’s because the mission commands make it smooth on the vehicle.

A HUD on your radio.

An EdgeTX widget puts an ArduDeck HUD on the transmitter’s own screen: attitude, battery, GPS, mode, and link health from the telemetry the radio already receives. A layout engine adapts it to the radio, full rendering on color screens and a high-contrast mode for sunlight-readable transflective screens, and setup happens in ArduDeck’s Radio tab with a preview of your radio’s actual screen. Voice announcements ship with it, the same voice in the app and from the radio, so modes and warnings are spoken whether you are at the bench or in the field.

Surveyed points.

Paste RTK pole measurements (labels, decimal commas, CSV, free-form lines) straight into the mission planner as numbered markers or a connected boundary, then plan a survey from that boundary. Points are never simplified.

Cargo and the Hangar.

ArduDeck now takes cargo: optional add-ons that load straight into the app so the core stays lean. The Hangar is right inside the app, and it opens with four cargos: Pre-Flight Weather Briefing (wind aloft, precipitation, flight windows, Kp geomagnetic forecast since a storm degrades RTK and compasses, and WMM2025 declination for a map-picked site), Fleet Vault (version-controlled parameter snapshots, missions, and survey areas with history, diff, and restore), Mission Library (save whole plans with map previews, attach flight logs), and Claude Advisor (read-only Claude on your own Anthropic API key, answering from live params and telemetry).

Also in this release: NTRIP corrections to the vehicle, multi-battery monitoring, the firmware board list now sourced live from firmware.ardupilot.org with real target names on every row (plus Intel HEX flashing and SiK radio recovery), per-vehicle fly-here with command rejections shown on screen instead of failing silently, H.265 stream transcoding for playback, much faster dataflash log downloads, a fix for a MAVLink v2 zero-truncation decode gap that could freeze telemetry fields (MISSION_CURRENT, FENCE_STATUS, RADIO_STATUS and others), and a truncated parameter download now being detected and recovered instead of silently accepted.

As always, issues and field reports very welcome, several fixes in this release came directly from pilots at DroneDays 2026. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and broke things.
