Arducopter rates compared to Betaflight

Arducopter rates compared to Betaflight?

I have tried to find a correlation, if any, between Arducopter rates and Betaflight!

I am venturing in to FPV so I have spent many hours in the TRYP FPV simulator and found Rates that suit my style of flying, some times slow and close in cinematic style but also free style.

I have built a Chimera 7 Pro so was pleased to see this as an option in the drone selection, It’s fully tuned and flies well in Stabilised!

I have not physically flown the Chimera in ACRO so would like to use the RATES I have found in TRYP.

All of my Quads are installed with Arducopter 4.5.5,

Looking at the ACRO rates in MP I can see the ACRO_RP_RATE range 1:1000 so I would assume that I can set the RP_RATE at 400 deg/s and 500 deg/s in Y but how does the ACRO_RP_EXPO reflect in the Betaflight rates shown in TRYP?

TRYP sim rates

7” working RC rate RATE RC curve result Throttle expo Throttle mid
roll 0.6 0.7 0.1 400 deg/s 0.6 0.3
Pitch 0.6 0.7 0.1 400 deg/s
Yaw 0.5 0.8 0.1 500 deg/s

Arducopter option.
ACRO_RP_EXPO -0.5 0.95
0.3 (default) 0 disabled
0.1 Very Low
0.2 Low
0.3 Medium
0.4 High
0.5 Very High

And as an extra question, how close is TRYP to actual flight?

These expo settings were modeled on betaflight so should be reasonably close to what you are expecting.

Hi Andy, Thanks for the reply.

I feel you have suggested some expo settings but I can’t see them?
So I’m still confused:

I assume:
RC rate is a throw percentage of the stick, 0.6 being 60% of the PWM range at full stick?
RATE ?
RC curve ?

It’s very (years) long time since I used Betaflight.

Its more complicated than that - its a polynomial curve. I use expo of 0.6

Thanks again, I had a feeling it was not that simple. I think it’s time to get my coat on and brave the vast outdoors!
