youtube.com/watch?v=vpz1v4RMThg

Bill, I am able to connect to the serial port but not able to see any MAVLink data in terms of attitude etc.
pls help, by mistake, I marked the post as “solved” thanks in advance, Rana

Try using the MAVLinkInspector widget from the Tools menu. You’ll need to enable advanced mode first from the file menu

In addition, after you make your usb connection, type the following at a command prompt on your Pi:

~$ dmesg

This should tell you the serial port to use. Mine for example is: ttyACM0

Thanks Bill, thanks Carpy,
I did as you suggested, pls find pasted below the log of $ dmesg
In addition, after you make your usb connection, type the following at a command prompt on your Pi:

~$ dmesg

This should tell you the serial port to use. Mine for example is: ttyACM0
Did you connect on ttyACM0? At 57600 baud? It looks like another port in the video.

Finaly, got APM Planner 2.0.18 fully working on my Raspberri Pi 2 with Ubuntu Mate 15.04. Thanks Bill

We should get the port to auto-select if device is connected while APM planner is running, but disconnected.

Hi there, I am also having the issue where APM starts but won’t go past the initial start screen and after about 15-20 seconds the program shuts down. If there is a wizard who can show me a magic trick to fix this I’d be stoked. I think there it mentioned something along the lines of requiring qt clarative 5? If this sounds familiar to anyone? Any help as always is much appreciated.

Try adding the following line to your /boot/config.txt file:

framebuffer_depth=32

Thanks Carpy, I’ll give it a spin and see what happens

If that doesn’t work try:

sudo apt-get install qtdeclarative5-qtquick2-plugin

You might have to do both qtdeclarative5-qtquick2-plugin and framebuffer_depth.

Mate you are a legend. Thankyou. I had to do an apt-get -f install but it’s flashed up and seems to be working so far so good.

Okay so APM planner is running and working. However I am having trouble connecting via telemetry radio. It seems to be talking to the other radio but there is no mav link connection that indicates a connection or sharing of data.

And the baud rate is set to 57600?

if you run screen /dev/ttyACM0 57600 you see data from the the drone?

Yup, the baud rate is set to 57600. I’ll have a look when I get home and see if that works. I’m very very new to Linux so I’ve been learning as I go, I apologise for the stupid question (it might end up helping some other newb who happens to stumble across this :slight_smile:) but when you say run, do you mean to type that line into terminal? Or that other application (the name of it escapes me) where you can run commands from?

Yes, run it in the Terminal app.

This popped into my inbox this morning, I haven’t looked, it maybe too basic, but hey here it is codecademy.com/courses/lear … mmand-line and it’s free

Cool thanks for the link I’ll definately look into it. I tried running that command, it first off said that there was no application called screen, so I installed it. Then ran the command again and it still wouldn’t work… It comes up with ‘cannot exec ‘/dev/ttyACMO 57600’ no such file or directory’ then it comes up with ‘screen is terminating’

Try running these commands with your telemetry radio plugged in to the Pi2:

$ cd /dev
$ ls -la tty*

You should see something like the following:
crw–w---- 1 root tty 4, 63 Dec 31 1969 tty63
crw–w---- 1 root tty 4, 7 Dec 31 1969 tty7
crw–w---- 1 root tty 4, 8 Dec 31 1969 tty8
crw–w---- 1 root tty 4, 9 Dec 31 1969 tty9
crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 204, 64 Dec 31 1969 ttyAMA0
crw------- 1 root root 5, 3 Dec 31 1969 ttyprintk
crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 188, 0 Aug 25 22:40 ttyUSB0

Notice my telemetry radio is ttyUSB0. Also, post the results of this command:

$ groups
