Hello all. After years (with breaks) of trying to fix config error failed to update io firmware I thought I would check to see if anyone had an answer. I have reread all the post and googled. I have tried everything suggested. No luck. If I change brd_io_enable to enable without update the Pixhawk boots with no error and no control. If I am lucky it will allow controller calibration or not and I get a bad channel 1 error. I see a lot of people trying but no clear answer. I am thinking my Pixhawk is just bad? The board looks new and what little testing I could do seems to show it is fine, but it is not. Anything new on this error?
When I load firmware 3.6.4 the board has a solid red led and seems fine Weird but I can no longer connect to mission planner
What pixhawk is this?
Did you do a bootloader update?
Pixhawk 2.4.8 PX4FMU v2.4.8. Other side of the board PX4FMU v2.5. Brand YRrc
Something is definitely not right with the controller. Sometimes everything works fine. Then nothing works. More not, so I am assuming something is wrong with the hardware but then the flash to old firmware and now back to confused. I need to just give up and switch to betaflight as I read a lot of post with no resolution. I need a simpler solution.
Quite a lot of these Pixhawk 2.4.8’s were made from factory-seconds chips and had reduced parts-counts for example in the voltage input/switching circuitry.
Some may work forever, some may never work properly and some may give up unexpectedly.
There’s a lot of good small/cheap flight controllers out there, check Holybro and Mateksys for a start.
No, you need to dispose of that Flight Controller.
There is no Betaflight firmware for it anyway if that’s what you want to use.
That’s what I was afraid of. Thank you. I have a hard time calling it quits.
I love ardupilot and mean nothing negative. I just don’t do any planned flights and just want a drone to fly for fun. That is what I meant by switching to betaflight. Matek seems to be a good choice? Would a cheap F4 be fine? Any recommendations. Thanks again all.
No one is going to take offense to your discovery that Betaflight is better suited to your needs. A cheaper F4 board will likely work fine. But I can’t make a specific recommendation, as I’m not a Betaflight user.
Matek boards are quite good in my experience and are supported by Ardupilot Betaflight (avoid using GPS rescue) and INAV.
