Has anyone matched an AM32 ESC with T-Motor MN2806 KV 650?
What is the best AM32 ESC configuration for the motor?
I try to understand my BLheli_32 configurations and port them to AM32.
I cannot find an exact match.
After configuration, I would also like to update the ESC firmware to v2.20.
@rmackay9
Can’t say exactly for those motors, but in general:
- Turn up your DSHOT rate to at least 4 times loop rate (or more)
- Try variable PWM with 16-32 khz
- Auto Timing Advance
- For motors that size, turn down the ramp rate to 10% or lower. This is very important!
- Make sure that the motor KV and motor poles are set correctly for your hardware.
Hi @Jai.GAY,
I use the 400kv version on my aerial photography copter (you probably already realised) paired with the equivalent of the VimDrones 20amp ESCS.
I haven’t spent much time figuring out the best configuration though because they seem to work fine with just these parameters set:
- MOTOR_KV = 380 (400 would be correct but AM32’s parms have an issue)
- MOTOR_POLES = 14 (default)
- ESC_INDEX = set each to a unique number 0, 1, 2 or 3
@Huibean recommended that I spend time finding the best timing advance value but I haven’t gotten to that yet.
P.S. not sure why I even bother to mention it but MAD RC has a nearly identical motor but the base plate mounting is a little different.
Sorry, I am not sure which field you are referring to.
Thanks and noted. I believe you mean the Extended Settings → ramp rate.
Is my suggested Limits → Low voltage cut off settings okay?
Yeah, I only have 620 or 660 KV options. I chose 660KV.
Sorry, I am not sure which field you are referring to.
@rmackay9, did you turn ON the Sinusoidal Startup and Stall protection?
This is a good piece of information, and it helps to keep the price competitive. Appreciated.
Hi @Jai.GAY,
I haven’t turned on Sinusoidal Startup and Stall protection.. but TBH, I just didn’t know about those features
The arducopter parameter, SERVO_DSHOT_RATE,4
the Extended Settings → ramp rate.
Yes.
I suggest you disable both the low voltage and high temperature cut-offs. Monitor the temperature of the ESC, use extended telemetry if it will support it, and make sure they are getting enough cooling. I would rather damage the ESC, than have it cut off and crash the drone.
I think sinusoidal start up and stall protection are for ground vehicles.
