AM32 firmware updating issue over passthrough

Hi

I tried to reflash a new T-Motor F55A III with the latest firmware. I noticed that the connection over the CUAV Nora (Arducopter 4.6 beta 5) is often very unreliable. Mostly I have to connect several times over the AM32.ca until the esc get detected.

The update process is also very unreliable and get stuck very often… In the meantime I have two missing esc’s which I’m not able to get the recovered.

Is there a way to recover the missing esc’s?

Many thanks in advance

Michael

What version of arducopter are you using? The latest beta version fixed that issue, I had the same problem and updated to latest beta and it fixed it.

To recover download the offline version of the am32 config software and recover them that way.
I guess it was the Beta 4 version that fixed it

Go here… https://am32.ca/downloads

or click this for the offline version.

Thanks, Mission Planner tells me that beta 5 is flashed to the Nora.

I also tried with the offline version. But I can’t reach those two broken esc’s… Do I have to know a special trick to get them back to work?

@andyp1per That means the passthrough issue should be fixed?

Regarding the T-Motor ESC. Is there any chance to fix the crashed ESC? Is it maybe better to use another FC as a interface for updating the firmware, maybe a betaflight flightcontroller?

Have you tried to swap the motor leads on your flight controller to see if the issue follows?

Yes, I did it. But no success. I also used another CUAV Nora with the same firmware as a flashing interface. It didn’t help. In the meantime another update failed and the actual status is than only 1 of 4 ESC are programable…

That PR hasn’t been merged yet. When it is you should be able to recover the ESCs.

Note that the way to do this is to setup passthrough so that you are connected (so connect and read settings) and then power cycle the ESCs. The AM32 firmware will see the line level and should then go into bootloader mode at which point you should be able to reflash.
