"5m" terrain data via Mission Planner - is it really higher resolution than 30m?

I see a person can select from 5m to 100m terrain grid spacing when using the PLAN tab in Mission Planner, vs the 30m or 90m data available here:

Do the MP grid spacing numbers below 30m actually provide higher resolution data? Or is it interpolation? If interpolation, under what circumstances/missions would that data be actually useful?

Only if you load a high resolution DEM for the area in Mission Planner, then it is more precise.
