A little while ago I started setup on my 10" copter with Ardupilot using AMC. Well, I finally
had a weather window for another test hover and a quick test flight in my backyard this morning. I’m now looking to set up the (throttle) notch
filters and would like everyone’s opinion on my param settings thus far, before moving forward with the rest of the configuration.
I’m using throttle notch instead of ESC telemetry, as The MatekF405-TE-bdshot target I had initially flashed, did NOT allow me to calibrate my GPS (QMC5883L compass) even after multiple attempts, and even trying different GPS modules.
I went back to MatekF405-TE target. Everything works as it should, however no Bi-dshot.
I’ve attached a bin file of my quick flight in STAB. The copter flies very nicely in STAB, ALTHOLD AND LOITER. The only exception being the transition from ALTHOLD or LOITER back to STAB. It’s VERY overpowered and drops or “shoots up” due to me trying to find the hover throttle.
Other than too many Notch Filter Options enabled I don’t see any problem here. a 10% hover throttle isn’t considered VERY overpowered. And you haven’t run Auto Tune.
Surprising that ESC doesn’t have serial telemetry. Not as good as Bdshpot but better than a throttle based notch if available.
Thank you both for your help. Sorry for the delay @ Amilcarlucas. Zip file attached below sir.
I must admit, as a someone new to Ardupilot the custom firmware builder looks a little daunting. I might give it a go!. If not, I’m waiting on a couple Matek H7’s. I will consider swapping out this F405 once they arrive. I figured it would be good to learn both methods.
@ Dkemxr. Thank you. I had a feeling too many notch filters were enabled. The second notch appears to be doing nothing. INS_HNTCH_HMNCS to 5 and keep INS_HNTCH_OPTS at 1?
I didn’t want to run Autotune until I had at least a decent notch profile set like the docs and AMC state. If it looks acceptable to you, I’ll set up autotune and run it.
I have a second Taker 80A 4in1 that I will be flashing to bluejay so I can use Bi-dshot when the H7 arrives and swap them out if I so choose.
