Wifi range test Edison - TX1

I did a non-scientific range test today of an Edison with on board antenna and with external antenna as well as a comparison to the TX1. Tx1 was still sending telemetry when I got an RSSI warning, a little less than 1/2 mile. Edison didn’t fair as well. Inside the belly of the Pixhawk2 I could get only about 100 meters, with an external antenna about 250 meters. It requires an external antenna version of the Edison, I tried with an on-board version and made no difference. This was an open field, line of sight experiment and I repeated the process with similar results. For what it’s worth😎

Cheers,
RB

PS. RTKs are being shipped😄

Thanks Randy! Numbers are good, even when they’re labelled as anecdotal
 It lets people set expectations.

Plug a 1 watt Alpha wifi dongle into the TX1 if you want range.

Dan,

Thanks for the share.

What kind of range are you getting out of that? What are you using on the ground?

Thanks,
Dave

Is this a WiFi range test and can you tell me what you were using as the receiver? I’ve gotten much poorer results when trying out video streaming over WiFi and I barely get 10m from the 3B+ in 2.4GHz hotspot mode.
